As Indian Domestic Travel Shifts Toward Private, Family-Led Journeys, Lux India Tours Opens Its Rajasthan Itineraries to Travellers at Home

Lux India Tours now plans and operates Rajasthan journeys for Indian travellers after 16 years of hosting international guests, applying the same private, well-organised hospitality model to domestic trips.

India's domestic travel market is changing. Families that once boarded large group coaches now ask for smaller, private arrangements. Couples book heritage hotels for anniversary trips. Three generations travel together and need a pace that works for children and elders alike. Against that backdrop, Lux India Tours, a private tour operator based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, has announced that it now plans and operates Rajasthan journeys for Indian travellers, after 16 years of hosting guests from abroad.

The company is run by Ramji Tours Private Limited. It is applying the same hospitality methods to domestic travel because more Indian families and couples have asked for private, well-organised trips in their own country.

Lux India Tours began as an operator for visitors who arrived in India from overseas. Many of them were travelling in the country for the first time. They needed clear planning, a reliable driver, a guide who could explain what they were seeing, and a person to call if plans changed.

Over sixteen years the company has hosted more than 30,000 guests. Its Google Business listing carries more than 300 guest reviews, and many of them describe the same pattern: one planner before the trip, one driver during it, and a guide who knows the destination well.

That experience shaped how the company works today. Each itinerary is built around the traveller rather than a fixed route. A private car and driver stay with the guests for the whole journey. Hotels are chosen city by city for comfort and location. Guides speak the guest's language where possible. A team member remains reachable at any hour during the trip.

"For years our guests were visitors who needed a patient, careful host," said Pawan Kumar Sharma, CEO and Founder of Lux India Tours. "Indian travellers need the same things. They want a driver they can trust, a plan that suits their family and a person who answers the phone. We had the experience to offer it, so we decided to open it to guests at home."

The company chose Rajasthan as the starting point for its Indian guests. Its head office is in Jaipur, its drivers and guides are based in the state, and it has planned thousands of journeys through the region.

The routes cover the main cities and many of the smaller ones. Typical itineraries include Jaipur, with Amber Fort, the City Palace, Hawa Mahal and the old bazaars, planned around the timing of each site so that guests meet the crowds as little as possible. In Udaipur, lakeside stays, the City Palace complex and boat rides on Lake Pichola. In Jodhpur, Mehrangarh Fort and the blue-washed old city below it. In Jaisalmer, the living fort, havelis and an evening in the Thar Desert.

Trips can also join Rajasthan to Delhi and Agra as part of the Golden Triangle, or continue to other regions of India. Guests can browse the Rajasthan destination guide to see the cities, stays and day-by-day plans the team has prepared.

The process is the same for Indian and international guests. A traveller sends an enquiry, and a planner contacts them to ask about dates, group size, interests and the kind of pace they prefer. The planner then proposes a route, hotels and a vehicle. The traveller can change any part of the plan before confirming.

During the journey, the same driver stays with the group from the first pick-up to the last drop. A local guide joins at each major site. The planner stays in touch throughout, and the team can adjust the route if weather, health or family needs call for it.

For Indian travellers the company offers private transport, with a dedicated car and chauffeur for the whole journey and the daily schedule set by the guests; local guides who explain the history of each fort and palace and who know when to leave guests to explore on their own; selected hotels spanning heritage palaces, boutique properties and modern hotels, chosen for service and location; a single point of contact, one planner from the first enquiry to the end of the trip; and flexible plans that can change during the journey without penalty to the overall experience.

Rates are shared on request, because each itinerary depends on the season, the hotels and the length of stay. Travellers can review the company's tour packages for sample routes and request a tailored quote through the contact page.

Lux India Tours is operated by Ramji Tours Private Limited, a registered company. The company holds a certification from India's Ministry of Tourism under the NIDHI programme. NIDHI stands for National Integrated Database of Hospitality Industry, a government registry of hospitality and tour businesses. The company is registered there as an Inbound Tour Operator, with a validity period that runs to February 2028.

It also holds a Certificate of Recognition from the Rajasthan Tourism Department as a travel agency and excursion agency, valid to January 2028. In December 2024 the company signed the Ministry of Tourism's "Travel for LiFE" pledge, which encourages sustainable and mindful travel practices. Copies of these documents are published on the company's About page.

Pawan Kumar Sharma leads the company as CEO and Founder. Brijesh Sharma is the bespoke itinerary expert and is named by many guests in their reviews. The reservations, advisory and guiding teams work from the Jaipur office, and the company's drivers and guides are based in Rajasthan.
